결론 및 제언
본 연구는 미국과 한국에 거주하는 한국 갱년기 여성들이 호소하는 갱년기 증상과 갱년기
감정 성향을 알아보고 문화권의 차이에 따라 이들의 갱년기 증상 및 갱년기 감정 성향에 어
떠한 차이가 있는지 알아보는 비교서술연구이다.
연구대상은 한국인 혈통을 가지고 한국에서 태어나 한국에서 살고 있거나 미국에 이민하
여 10년 이상 살고 있는 40-60세 사이의, 양쪽 난소를 수술로 제거하지 않은 여성을 편의표
집 하였다. 자료수집은 구조화된 질문지를 사용하였고 spss/pc(＋)로 총 195부의 최종 자료
를 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다.
결론
1. 갱년기 감정 성향을 일반적 특성별로 비교한 결과 재미 대상자와 국내 대상자 모두 연
령별로는 50-54세, 결혼상태별로는 이혼한 여성, 학력별로는 고졸 이하, 연수입별로는 저소
득층, 종교별로는 개신교 신자가 가장 부정적 성향을 나타내어 일반적 특성 7개 사항 중 5
개 사항이 일치되었다. 따라서 갱년기 연령에 속한 한국 여성들의 강정 성향은 미국과 한국
이라는 문화권의 차이보다는 개인의 특성에 따라 영향을 받는다는 결론을 얻었다.
2. 재미 대상자의 갱년기 감정 성향은 건강상태별로 유의한 차이가 있었고(F=3.7726,
p.<05), 국내 대상자의 갱년기 감정 성향은 결혼상태별(F=6.4733, p<.05)로 유의한 차이가
있었다.
3. 갱년기 연령에 속한 한국 여성들의 감정 성향은 약한 부정적 성향을 나타내었고 재미
대상자(3.97±.94점)와 국내 대상자(3.90±.71점)간에 유의한 차이가 없었다(t=.55, p>.05).
4. 갱년기 증상 유무별 갱년기 감정 성향을 비교한 결과, 갱년기 증상이 없는 사람은 약한
긍정 성향(80.48±14.90점), 갱년기 증상이 있는 사람은 약한 부정 성향(76.39±17.49점)을 나
타내었으나, 통계적 유의성은 없었다(t=-1.762, p>.05). 또 이를 요인별로 본 결과 활동 요인
에서 유의한 차이가 있었고(t=6.895, p<.01) .186 정도의 유의한 상관이 있었다(p<.01).
5. 갱년기 감정과 갱년기 증상 호소수와의 관계는 -.1225의 역상관 관계를 나타내었다.
제언
본 연구에서는 갱년기 증상을 조사할 때 대상자 본인이 갱년기 증상이라고 생각하는 것을
모두 적도록 하는 개방형 질문지를 사용하였다. 차후 갱년기 증상을 점수화 하여 증상의 경
중별로 갱년기 감정과의 관계를 조사해 볼 것을 제언한다.

The purpose of this study was to compare the climacteric symptoms and emotion of
Korean women living in the United States and Korea.
The 195 subjects consisted of 81 women who have lived for more than 10 years in
the United States and 114 women who live in Korea. All the subjects were from 40 to
60 years of age.
Data were collected by convenience sampling using a questionaire in the west and
mid-west regions of the United States and in Kyungbuk province in Korea.
The results of .this study are as follows:
1. Both subjects in the United States and Korea showed the highest negative emotions
according to the following ; in the 50-54 years of age group, divorced, less than high
school graduation, lower income level and Protestant in religion. So we concluded that
the cultural differences between the United States and Korea did not exert an important
influence on the women's emotional tendency, but personal characteristics and
background did.
2. Emotional tendency of Korean women from 40 to 60 years of age living in United
States and Korea was slight negative (Korean-American ; 3.97±.94, Korean ; 3.90±.71)
3. The emotions of women living in the United States showed a significant difference
according to the state of health(F=3.7726, p<.05).
The emotions of women living in Korea showed a significant difference according to
marrital status(F=6.4733, p<.05).
4. There were negative correlations between the number of climacteric symptoms and
emotions.
